With more thanÂ 100 books, Â copies of the National TCF Magazine publicationÂ WE NEED NOT WALK ALONE, Â â€œtalking booksâ€,Â music, meditation, spiritual, motivational, inspirational CDs and Â DVDs, DVDs from past TCF National conferences,Â pamphlets, brochures, poems, andÂ newsletters, The Compassionate Friends East Of The RiverÂ Loaning Libraryis growing.
Subject matter includes books that speak directly to parental grief, the journey specific to Â fathers after the loss of a child and general bereavement, as well as books with spiritual and religious perspectives.Â There are several books available by authors who have journeyed through tremendous trials and tribulations including Michael J. Foxâ€™s ALWAYS LOOKING UP, RESILIENCE by the late Elizabeth Edwards, and WHY I WORE LIPSTICK TO MY MASTECTOMY by Geralyn Lucas.Â In additional to the non-fiction, self-help and informational books, the library offers several works of fiction as evidenced by THE LOVELY BONES, and CHARLIE ST. CLOUD (which also have been made into motion pictures).
Members are welcomed to borrow any book for whatever time is needed. Â All books and CDs are available to borrow from any meeting and may also be reserved ahead of time by Â sending an email Â to TCFEastOfTheRiverCT@gmail.com Â Â Subject line: LIBRARY.
Thus far, all contributions to the library have been made by parents who have donated from their own personal libraries.Â Gently used books are always welcomed, as are donations of new books or funding toward the library.
