Local Charity Develops a New Website and Blog to Help Support Grieving Families

Manchester, CT – The National Compassionate Friends welcomes an additional chapter to Manchester Connecticut, beginning October 21, 2010.

The mission of The Compassionate Friends East of The River Chapter is to assist family members in the positive resolution of the grief experienced upon the death of a child of any age, from pre-birth to full maturity, and to support efforts to achieve physical and emotional health.  In an effort to share support and spread the message of hope, a new chapter, website and blog has been established to serve central Connecticut.

A Secondary Purpose is to provide information and education about bereaved families.  The objective is to help those in their community to be supportive, including family, friends, employers, coworkers and professionals.

Our new Compassionate Friends East of the River website and blog will feature chapter news, area events, support, newsletters and more. The Compassionate Friends East of The River Chapter meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month in Manchester, CT at the Hampton Inn and Suites. New Members are welcome to attend.

To generate awareness in the community for the new chapter, TCF East of the River CT Chapter will be hosting a FREE BENEFIT CONCERT featuring Alan Pedersen, a bereaved dad and award winning singer ~ songwriter.  Says chapter co-Leader, Bettie-Jeanne Rivard-Darby of the event, “The tie, locally, is that while we have several existing chapters of Compassionate Friends in Connecticut, there is a sadly growing need, to provide peer-to-peer support for even more families.  Trying to find our way back to some sort of life once our child has been taken from it is a struggle and pain unlike any other.  We will be beginning an additional East of The River Chapter of The Compassionate Friends in Manchester on October 21, to better serve the surrounding communities; to support more parents, grandparents and siblings in the darkest times of their lives.  Alan and Denise’s presence will help to create greater awareness and is a way to let people know that we are here to help ~ that they are not alone ~ and that someone cares!”  ♥
